I hear lots of swag tunes drop down there all the time, and it translates to smaller speakers too.

What I'm asking is, where does that come from and how do I get rid of that sound without lowering the volume of the lower notes? I'm not reading ANY clips for the duration of the track, however when it drops to C# there is a distinct distortion (sounds like static or clipping). The problem I am talking about arises when I compress/limit the master. Obviously the lower register sound is going to need more power to be represented by the synth. Reason i bumped this is because i have had a similar issue and may have an answer if i understand the question (the clipping noise that is), Also because the sig track is dope and kinda want others to take a listen (big up).Īlso: Have you tried using the audio and adjusting the envelope instead of resampling as a wave form and synthesising?įirst of all, the actual volume (waveform amplitude) is not the same thing as the "perceived loudness", which is what I'm trying to maintain here. Ok fine.but then you go on to say that's not the issue?! I'm confused. You're being restricted because of the peak when the 808 drops in the register. You're at mastering and trying to get some more volume. It's the clipping noise when it drops lower in the register? So let's get this straight. I can think of many ways to combat these things but I would rather hear some seasoned wisdom from you folks.Īlbino3, fabfilter pro-Q, ozone 5, abletonĪlbino3, fabfilter pro-Q, ozone 5, abletonI think i understand what you're saying after reading through all that. How do I keep the punch and perceived loudness the same across the note change?ĭo I have to sacrifice the loudness of the track as a whole to get that buzzy alias noise to go away when it hits C#? I could go on and on writing about this kinda stuff but I think you can see what I'm getting at: I tried auto-raising the submaster limiter threshold at the change but it ends up lowering the perceived loudness of the sub noticeably. What ends up happening is some clipping noise with no clip, my guess is some sort of aliasing or my submaster eq needs to be automated. that's not really what i'm stressing over.

On the track, I marked where one of the progressions are and you can see that the amplitude rises when the bass drops into C#.

then some fabfilter saturn for saturation. Now to get the apparent loudness in the sub synth I have the cutoff on the lowpass relatively high, bit of rez, then lowpass it with EQ post synth. The bits play 8 bars of F then bends down to C# for next 8 bars. So I need a little advise here at the mixing/mastering stages. Greets, producing a "swag/trap" tune tonight and I've designed my own fattie "808" sub sound in albino based on the waveform of a lex luger 808 sample.
